ロシアのウクライナ侵攻の余波が違ったところにも出てきています。
これまでNATOへの加盟をしてこなかった北欧のフィンランドがNATOへの加盟を支持しました。
まぁ、横の国が侵略を受けているのを見ると不安になるもの分かります。
一方で、それを受けてロシアは報復の可能性に言及しています。
今日はこの話題を取り上げようと思います。

“retaliation”は「報復、仕返し」という意味。

余儀なくされると言っているところに意味がありますね。
フィンランドがNATOに加盟するというので、やむを得ずロシアとしても対抗措置が必要となる。
自分たちが望んでいるわけではないということですね。
でも、報復まで必要だとは思わないですけどね。
“will be forced to take retaliatory steps”で「報復措置を講じることを余儀なくされるだろう」と表現しています。
“be forced to ~”で「~を強いられる、強制される、余儀なくされる」という意味です。
