When I finally woke up, I would reach for my phone to check social media and remain all curled up for another 30 minutes. Eventually, this cycle would bring me to the brink of mental illness.
Then, while browsing online, I stumbled upon a simple technique to rewire your brain, called the 5-second rule. According to this rule, the first five seconds after waking up can determine how your day is going to be.
Just think. If the first 5 second of your day go as planned, the rest of your day will be a breeze. This made me realize the importance of making my first 5 seconds count and I eventually overcame my bad habit of sleeping in.
If you find yourself hesitating and refusing to jumpstart your work mornings, practice the first five-second rule after waking up and have faith that you will be engaged from the get-go. Besides, who wouldn’t want to be the master of their brain?
